If this is your very first time creating an abstract picture there are a few things you need to do to get started. You first need to gather your art supplies. You can get these at any craft or art store. Here is a list of things that you will need to get in order to start your Abstract Painting.
You will need a paintbrush, without this you will not be able to do any kind of painting. You should try to get the best paintbrush that you are able to afford at the time. Remember with any of the supplies you can always come back when you have a better idea of what you need or want.
Once you have your paintbrush you will need paint to use it with. There are no rules to choosing paint. That is a very personal decision that only you can decide. Just get the colors that you want your abstract painting to incorporate.
You should try to get professional paints if you want a quality picture. Student paints are ok but will not work as well. Acrylic paint dries very quickly; this can be good in abstract painting because you can paint over things.
The third thing you need to shop for is your canvas. This does not actually have to be canvas. You can use anything that you want. It is better to start with something inexpensive if you are a beginner. This way you can make mistakes and not have spent a lot of money.
Once you have all of your supplies, you are ready to begin your original abstract paintings. Make sure to stand back and look at what you have created from time to time. This will help you decide if you have gone the way you wanted to, and if you want to add anything to it. Just remember to let your mind go and express your creativity. Do not be nervous, there is no wrong way to do this! In the end, you will always be proud of whatever you created!
